Jan and Jefferson Helton of Commerce, Texas have won first prize in the nonfiction category of Ageless Authors’ just-completed Coping With Crisis contest for their essay, Train (e)scape, The writing duo received a $500 award and a certificate for achievement from the world’s largest senior writers’ group. Claire Yurdin of Burien, Washington took the second prize of $250 in this category and a certificate of achievement. Third prize was a tie between Kay Dixon of Spokane, Washington and Ilene Haddad of Austin, Texas, who each received $125 and a certificate of achievement from the large writing group.

Nonfiction finalists who also received certificates include Theresa Elders of Westminster, CA; Leeanne Hay of Plano, Texas; Lily MacKenzie of Richmond, California; S. Gale Pace of Everett, Washington; Gavin O’Donnell of Newport, Wales; Susan Ross of Moscow, Idaho; Chris Flocken of Maitland, Florida and Pam Carroll of Sahuarita, Arizona.

Entrants in the contest included more than 300 senior writers who had their submissions reviewed by writers, editors, teachers and other professionals from around the world.
