Most book signings highlight a single celebrity author, but Ageless Authors events are different. Our book readings/signings are meant to make celebrities of all senior writers age 65 and older, and we will help you set one up at your local bookstore or library.
We’ve already held such events in the home cities of our two directors. Larry Upshaw emceed a reading in the Dallas area of those published in the first Ageless Authors Anthology at Half Price Books in January. Five senior writers signed books purchased at the event and writers working on pieces for our current writing contest asked questions of the winners about the contest and how to submit their work.
Jean Yeager, our newest director with responsibilities in IT and promotion, expanded the concept with an open mic night at this local bookstore, Phoenix Books in Rutland, Vermont. Prior to joining the Ageless Authors staff, Jean was a first prize winner in the essay category in our first writing contest. He read his winning essay, “The Kite of Our Genius — Sail On.” He also invited local senior writers to read their work to an overflow audience at the town’s main bookstore, and 15 local people responded.
Other readings/signings/workshops are being planned for senior writers across the country. Events should include reading from the Ageless Authors Anthology and other works. We can help you set up the event, make sure the bookstore has copies of the Anthology, secure other readers and publicize the event.
